This policy explains how 77t Limited (“we”) collects and uses personal data when you use MOT Alert at https://mot.77t.co.uk/ (the “Service”). We are the data controller.
Our details
77t Limited, registered in England and Wales, company no. 13548922.
Registered address: 27 Old Gloucester Street, London, England, WC1N 3AX
Contact: privacy@77t.co.uk
ICO registration number: [ICO registration number]
What we collect and why
Vehicle MOT checks. When you enter a registration we send it to the DVSA MOT History API and show the results. A registration can relate to an identifiable person, so we treat it as personal data. Results may be cached briefly to speed up repeat checks. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in providing a service you requested.
MOT reminders. If you sign up we collect your email address and the vehicle registration, and store the due date, the reminders sent, your status and a confirmation/unsubscribe token. We use this only to email you before the MOT is due (around 30, 21, 14 and 3 days beforehand). Lawful basis: your consent, given by ticking the box and confirming by email. You can withdraw it any time.
Technical data. Our hosting and security systems may process your IP address, browser type and access times to keep the Service secure. Lawful basis: legitimate interest.
We do not profile you or sell your data.
Cookies
See our Cookie Policy. We use only essential/functional storage. Our web font is served from our own server, so no font data is sent to third parties.
How long we keep it
Reminder sign-ups: until you unsubscribe or after a period of inactivity. Unconfirmed sign-ups: removed after 30 days. Cached lookups: deleted within hours. Server logs: kept briefly for security.
Who we share it with
Only service providers acting on our instructions: our hosting provider; our email delivery provider; and the DVSA as the source of MOT data (a separate controller). We do not sell your data.
Vehicle data from the DVSA
MOT information is supplied by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) under the Open Government Licence. The DVSA is a separate controller of that source data. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the DVSA, DVLA or GOV.UK.
Your rights
You can access, correct or erase your data, restrict or object to processing, request portability, and withdraw consent at any time (every reminder email has an unsubscribe link). Contact privacy@77t.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Security and transfers
We use appropriate measures to protect your data. Where a provider stores data outside the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
Children
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 18.
